The Faithful Alligator

Copyright Infringement

The beauty of quoting the Bible is that God (and His cronies) will never sue you for copyright infringement.

"Those whose steps are guided by the Lord,
whose way God approves,
May stumble, but they will never fall,
for the Lord holds their hand.
Neither in my youth, nor now in old age
have I ever seen the just abandoned
or their children begging bread."

Psalm 37: 23-25

This is why I have hope that I will find a job that will not make me take a giant step backward in terms of the time I get to spend on my true vocation: marriage and motherhood. I can't imagine never seeing my kids for the sake of a job.

About that suing you bit... Yes they will.

Get this. The publisher of each translation of the Bible owns the copyright to the translation. A few are "kind" enough to allow you to quote a few verses for free, but otherwise, the publisher/writer needs to recieve written permission and, usually, pay a significant fee to quote it.

Same goes for the Pope's encyclicals, believe it or not. The Vatican demands a fee, and it's hefty, for QUOTING THE TEACHING OF THE CHURCH in print! AND same goes for the texts of prayers that we use at Mass.

I know ... freaking RIDICULOUS. So, having had some experience with this nonsense, I had to vent, even though it wasn't exactly the point of your post. :)
